“Over the last twenty years my students have taught me that the best formula I can use when teaching is to make my classes interesting, while teaching technique and lending plenty of encouragement.  I strive to make my classroom a safe environment for the exchanging of ideas.  I want my classes to feel welcoming to everyone, whether they are new to art or not.  I strive to ensure artists leave my classes feeling confident and if they are smiling, so much the better!  Art shapes our world, it shapes the way our brains process information and our ability to express our feelings in a healthy way.  As Art Educators we need to bring art to as many people as we can in our classrooms and through Outreach programs. “

Amanda Jones was raised by a family of Artisans before attending University of Cincinnati.  After moving to the Atlanta area in 1999, she began teaching at the Spruill Center for the Arts in Dunwoody.  After settling in Johns Creek, while her boys were young, Amanda taught art out of her home.  Active in her local community, she has taught many local area residents from children to Senior citizens, at risk youth, and persons who are differently abled.  Amanda joined the Johns Creek Arts Center in 2019.  She says, “Teaching at the Johns Creek Arts Center feels like coming home!  I am blessed to be part of such a positive, thoughtful and energetic arts community.”

When not teaching at JCAC, you will find Amanda volunteering in local area programs such as the Marching Band at Chattahoochee High School and participating in Scouts.

Amanda’s personal art includes working in Fibers, Metals and Mixed Media.
