Now You See Me: Contemporary Self-Portraiture

The art of the self-portrait transcends art movements throughout history.  While every work of art contains a piece of the artists' personality and vision, a self-portrait offers a unique lens through which the artist can explore themes of identity and gives the viewer a unique opportunity to form a more personal connection with the mind of the artist.

Now You See Me: Contemporary Self-Portraiture is an exploration of the minds of the modern artist, pushing the boundaries of what is expected from a self-portrait.  With a mix of traditional and esoteric pieces, each artwork is a window into a unique, yet relatable, experience of the artist.

Grades 1-5.  Members Free, Non-Members $3.00

Bring a photo reference with you and do a pop art style self portrait.  Parents must stay with their children for this program.  Register here.

 

October 18 from 12:00-2:00 PM  "The Power of the Self Portrait" Lunch and Learn

November 9 from 1:00-4:00 PM  "Self Portrait Monoprinting Workshop"

Use ink to create a series of beautiful monoprinted self portraits with the aid of instructor Sissy Saffell.  Register here.
